Gary Rivenes is Vice President, Operations
of Rio Tinto Energy America, based in Gillette Wyoming. Mr.
Rivenes is responsible for all Rio Tinto Energy America (RTEA)
operating mines as well as the site-based technical and
maintenance groups. Rio Tinto Energy America owns and operates
three surface coal mines in the western United States, with two
of them located in Wyoming and one in Montana.
Mr. Rivenes began his career with Rio Tinto
Energy America in 1992 and has worked in the mining industry at
several locations and within various disciplines with
significant experience in engineering, production and mine
management. Over the past 17 years, Gary has held such positions
as Mining Engineer, Production Supervisor, Production
Planner/Engineer, Operations Supervisor and Technical Services
Manager at RTEA’s Antelope and Jacobs Ranch Mines and Rio
Tinto’s Colowyo Mine. Gary was General Manager at the Jacobs
Ranch and Antelope Mines prior to his appointment as Vice
President, Operations in RTEA’s corporate headquarters.
Mr. Rivenes
holds a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering from Montana
College of Mineral, Science & Technology.
