Michael Barrett

Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer

Michael Barrett assumed responsibilities as Chief Financial Officer for Rio Tinto Energy America in April 2007.  Michael has been with RTEA in Gillette since 2004 and previously held the position of Director, Finance & Commercial Analysis. 

Michael joined the Rio Tinto group in 2001 with Rio Tinto Iron Ore in business development, based in Perth, Australia.  Michael began his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers in England, where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant before transferring to Australia.  He subsequently worked as a Senior Business Analyst for WMC Resources Ltd and was Finance Director of two small publicly listed technology companies. 

Michael holds a joint honours degree in Economics and Accounting from Southampton University and is a Chartered Accountant.
